Planning

A planner was contracted through the Western Piedmont Council of Governments. The planner is at Town Hall on Monday and Wednesday afternoons. The planner also meets monthly with the Planning Board and attends the regular monthly Town Council Meeting. In 2008 the town contracted with the Western Piedmont Council of Governments to draw up a Comprehensive Plan for the Town, with the involvement of community volunteers.

Garbage Pickup

Garbage pickup is free to the residents of Rutherford College. Garbage must be bagged and placed in the assigned GDS carts and then placed near the road for pickup on Friday Mornings. You may request another GDS cart at an additional cost by calling Town Hall and requesting the extra cart.

Lovelady Fire Department

Lovelady Fire Department

Located on main street in Rutherford College, this department (www.loveladyfire.org)is made up of very devoted volunteers who are determined to keep this community as safe as possible.

EMS Station

The EMS Station is located behind Lovelady Fire Department and responds immediately to any 911 emergency that might arise.

  • Additional Sewer Usage $5.30 per thousand for the next 3,000 gallons over minimum, and each thousand thereafter (over first 6,000 gallons) is $3.05

  • Late Payment Fee: 10% of current month's bill
  • Fee for cutoff for non-payment of bill: $25.00
  • To replace removed meter, damaged meter or vandalism of lock: $100.00
  • Returned check charge: $25.00
    (Customer is given 48 hours to pay cash, money order or cashiers check, if not paid, then bill plus $25.00 is added back to the account and water is either turned off or meter locked, according to how much is owed.)

  • Tap Fee for Water: $1,200.00 or cost, plus $25.00 Administrative Fee
  • Tap Fee for Sewer: $500.00 or cost, plus $25.00 Administrative Fee
  • Harbor Ridge Tap Fee for Water: $1,750.00, plus $25.00 Administrative Fee
